tagging

Tags are no longer handwritten.  Our software allows you to have a running inventory list of everything you've entered which you can edit or add to at any time.

Click here to enter the Tagging System!

We will NO LONGER accept any items with handwritten tags or barcoded from Spring '09.

All of your items can be input into the computer and will print 10 tags to a page!  Please use a minimum of 65 lb. cardstock, found at Walmart, Target, etc ($3.99-$4.19 for a 50 count pkg).   DO NOT use regular paper for printing tags.  DO NOT cover the UPC with tape or we will not be able to scan your item.

For your barcode to scan, you must be able to see all of the bars clearly.
 Watch out for the following:
  • Printing too light: if you cannot see all of the bars clearly, it won't scan. Print on the next darkest setting.
  • Laser Printers: You can use a draft or normal setting to print your barcode tags.
  • Printing too dark: if you cannot see clear space between the bars, it won't scan. Print on the next lightest setting.
  • Misalignment: if your bar-code looks "wavy", it won't scan. Align your print cartridge and print again.
  • Please don’t reprint barcode tags on the back side of any paper because we are unable to accept any double-sided tags.
  • White cardstock paper works best with barcode tagging. Colored cardstock can be used but can all be difficult at times for a barcode reader to scan.
  • Hint: if you print your tags in small batches, it will help assure efficient, printing success each time.
  • Hint: as an added security measure, you may place a piece of clear tape over the safety pin on any of your items that are $10 or more. This makes it more difficult for the tag to be removed or lost.
The tags will print like this.  Please do not print your tags to fit to the entire page.  The "Donate" notates your item will be donated if unsold and the "No Discount" means your item will NOT be participating in the half price sale.

ALL TAGS MUST BE ENTERED BY Tuesday, FEBRUARY 9th, 7:00AM.  THE SYSTEM WILL BE DEACTIVATED AFTER THAT TIME.
YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO PRINT YOUR TAGS.

We recommend preparing your clothing items before tagging them.

1.  press & hang your clothes first
2.  sort clothing by size and by gender
3.  enter tag data
4.  print tags
5.   tag items-consider placing a piece of tape over the top of your tag, over the pin, for extra security.

TIP:  Put your clothing items together and have them stacked by the computer on hangers by gender and by size.  Keep them in the same order until you print your tags.  Print your tags in numerical order and then attach them to the items.

 TAGGING GUIDELINES:
  • When describing the item, be as descriptive as possible. Use name brands in the event a tag gets separated from the item. If your item qualifies as “new” or “only worn twice,” write that in your description.  Include quantity of items here (3 pc set, etc..
  • Allow your items to go in our half price sale if you plan on donating.
  • NO CROSSOUTS ON TAGS.
  • If you are NOT donating you items (although we highly recommend it) we are asking that you make each of your tags unique with a sticker, stamp, highlight, whatever you choose (as long as it does not interfere with the up).  The will help with the sorting process at the end of the sale.

  • Price your hanging items at a minimum of $2.00.
  • For large items (i.e. strollers, swings, ride-on toys, etc.) - Place masking tape with your consignor number and price on the bottom or under side of each item. This helps identify your item in case the card is lost.
  • ALL clothing must be HUNG on wire hangers, not just pinned to the hanger.  Infant clothing will fit on a wire hanger, however, you may use small plastic hangers for items sized 12 months and smaller.  NO onsies, sleepers, etc.. will be accepted in baggies.
  • Hang clothing so the hanger makes a question mark (?) from front.
  • Regular sized wire hangers can be obtained from a dry cleaner for free or for a minimum charge.  Please email us if you have difficulty obtaining wire hangers.  We are not able to return any plastic hangers used.
PINNING : (see examples below)
  • Use only one inch or larger safety pins to attach tag. No straight pins.
  • Attach safety pin horizontally on the top of the tag.
  • Place tag on upper right of clothing item. If clothing item is at risk of getting a hole from the pin, please use the clothing tag at the center back of your item to place your tag.
  • For sets-hang the top on the hanger and pin the pants to the upper part of the back of the hanger.  Both pieces can be viewed without unpinning them. SETS SELL BEST so consider pulling together an outfit when possible. For example, try pairing a boy's polo shirt with a pair of khaki pants.
  • Any matching shoes or accessories can be pinned to the outfit directly or placed into a Ziploc bag and hooked over the hanger as well as pinned to the hanger for extra security.
  • If you have more than one of an item that you want to sell together you may put each item on its own hanger and rubber-band the hangers together.
  • Single pants/skirts should be safety pinned to the top of the hanger. Tip-place pin a couple inches from each side to keep item more secure.  For maternity pants only, please fold over a sturdy wire hanger and pin in place.  Place tag on pant leg so price can be read by shopper.

TIP : Get ready for our next sale! As your child outgrows clothing, wash it, hang it, and tag it. This will make preparation a breeze for our next sale.

HELP!!  MY TAGS WON'T PRINT!

Please don’t wait until last minute to print your tags.  If you experience a problem with printing your tags please read the following.  Our software developer has provided us with some helpful hints and they are as follows:

INFO: My tags won''t print. What can I do?

“The most common cause for this is that a popup blocker is turned on. In certain instances, MSM will use a popup to display the tags for the consignor to print. The reason for this is so that when they are done printing, they can simply close the window and they are right back on the print tags screen, in case they want to print another set.

A simple way to stop the popup blocker is for your consignor to hold down the CTRL key when they click on the print button. This will disable the popup blocker for that particular link. They will need to do this each time they click. If you want a more permanent solution, read below...

If your consignor is running a popup blocker, it may block this popup. What usually happens when a popup blocker blocks the popup is that they will click the button to print the tags and nothing happens. You can instruct your consignor to disable thier popup blocker, or to simply configure it to allow popups from www.mysalemanager.net. Following are some instruction documents for turning off popup blockers.

Working with the IE popup blocker:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/web/sp2_popupblocker.mspx

Working with other common popup blockers:

https://host.softworks.ca/Agate3/blocker/disable-blockers.htm

One thing that is important to note, and often overlooked is that it is not uncommon for a computer to be running more than one popup blocker. Almost any IE toolbar that is installed (google, yahoo, aol, etc.) have their own popup blocker. If you disable the IE popup blocker, then the toolbar popup blocker just takes over. So your consignor will need to modify or disable ALL the popup blockers that may be installed.”
